V.O.I.D
V.O.I.D
V.O.I.D was my last project for university. It was created in 9 months with 8 other people. In the team we had 3 designers, 4 artists and 1 writer. I was the only programmer on the team. At an expo at my university the game won 2 awards. It won fantastic fiction and the Supermassive Games award.
What I learnt:
Scriptable objects
Animation curves
2D platformer movement
How to make player movement feel good
Manage my code so it can be easier reuse
One of the hardest part of the game was creating all the different abilities in the game and trying to explain and show the player how these abilities work in game and how they effect the world around them. The jump was something that I worked on a lot.
V.O.I.D. is a single-player 2D metroidvania with a focus on gravity defying gameplay, exploration and meaningful progression.
Play as Gin, a skilled Engineer tasked by the Monarch to investigate an abandoned research facility known as The Cradle. Using a technologically enhanced gauntlet, Gin can learn to manipulate gravity and traverse the facility's expansive and complex architecture. With suspicions of a failing experiment, and the warning signs of an impending disaster, it's up to you to delve deep into The Cradle and repair an experimental device before it unleashes its cataclysmic force upon the world.
"Take gravity into your own hands."
